 I was introduced to English as a second language (ESL) teaching in 2016 when I saw an article that a friend sent me.  After some research and learning more about ESL teaching, I decided to apply to a popular Chinese company. I was hired in 2016. I love teaching English! As I have had the opportunity to teach my students, I have also continued to grow as a teacher by seeking out and completing training for my newly chosen field.  During my career as an ESL teacher, I have successfully completed the foundational and advanced certifications for teaching online, also known as TESOL.  I have also received the certification and training for, "Teaching English as a Foreign Language Online to Young Learners” (TEFL). I hold a bachelor's degree in the field of Business Management from the University of Phoenix.

When I began working as an ESL teacher in 2016, I came to understand that teaching was something I truly loved. In my time working for the Chinese company, I taught over nearly 8000 classes to over 1800 students. I received 1900 “excellent” reviews from parents.  The parents of my students have described my teaching skills and strengths as follows: scaffolding (the ability to break down the lesson to easier “bite-sized” pieces or build it up for more advanced learners), student encouragement, student output and conversational practice. They describe my personality as energetic and patient.

As a former foreign language learner, I understand that language learning can be difficult and frustrating at times. I work hard to make learning English a fun experience for my students by offering rewards, playing games and learning about them, their families and their culture.   I hope you will come and join me while we learn together!
